the back office for early stage startups
Supporting innovation and job creation at scale by helping startups build faster.
StartupOK is a non-profit ESO (entrepreneurial support organization) and startup studio that serves as the back office for early stage tech startups in the midwest and southern US, thereby reducing the burden of dealing with these non-core, administrative and management tasks, and allowing them to focus on building amazing products that customers want and scaling their companies.
These smaller markets have rapidly growing startup ecosystems, but we still have a long way to go to get more resources to founders building outside the major coastal hubs. For individuals, businesses, and organizations who care about growing regional economies, we need to give our startups an unfair advantage by surrounding them with resources to support their entrepreneurial journeys.
for startups
Starting a business is hard enough as it is without having to deal with administrative overhead that’s non-core to the business. Every founder has to navigate getting their systems set up and finding service providers for things like accounting, HR, payroll, investor relations, compliance, security, legal, marketing, graphic design, etc. But when you’re a small startup, this administrative burden can be a distraction.
We work with third party vendors and a team of virtual assistants to provide back-office/administrative services like HR, payroll, accounting, tax, graphic design, legal, etc. for early stage startups (up to Series A). While we have standard packages, we customize our solution for every startup, so you only use what you need.
for investors
We have a for-profit fund that intends to generate outsized returns by investing in a diverse portfolio of high-growth, early-stage startups while boosting returns by leveraging non-dilutive capital. We’re also organizing an angel syndicate for investors to co-invest alongside the fund and get access to high quality deal flow comprised of the best startups in the region. for donors
The services outlined above are provided as close to cost as possible. Donated funds are used to provide grants and investments for the startups we serve to lower the cost even more.
Tax-deductible sponsorship contributions can be made through StartupOK Foundation, which accepts cash contributions from individuals and companies; grants and distributions from donor-advised funds, foundations, and charitable trusts; and anything with established or appraisable value, including cryptocurrency, real estate, stocks, bonds, privately held business interests, fund manager carried interest, and collectible art.
“Our job is to make our startups as competitive as possible; StartupOK helps us do that.”
